A wedding filled with flowers in Chmielno

Venue decorations and floral details for a wedding reception at U Chłopa in Chmielno.

We arranged the tables and the newlyweds' place together with the couple

In 2025, we prepared the decoration of the U Chłopa hall in Chmielno along with floral accessories for the wedding reception. We agreed with the couple mainly on two things that the guests have in mind from the beginning to the end: table elements and the setting of the newlyweds' place. We did it in stages, because we refined the concept from the first proposal to the final arrangements before the wedding. We like this way of working. The decoration is then created in conversation with the couple, without a ready-made diagram transferred from another room.

These two areas play different roles at a wedding. Guests talk, eat and spend most of the party at the table, so the decoration should accompany, not interfere. It should leave room for place settings, not cover people sitting opposite, and look good up close. The entire room looks at the newlyweds' place, and it often appears in the background of photos, so its setting must be legible from a distance and match the rest of the interior.

The hotel on Lake Kłodno combines a hall, garden and beach

U Chłopa is a Kashubian hotel in Chmielno, located on Lake Kłodno. The Main Banquet Hall, intended for larger receptions, is pillarless and air-conditioned, and its windows overlook the lake. An intimate wedding will fit in the smaller Chmielowa Hall. The interior of the wedding hall is kept in a rustic style, with wood, linen and greenery harmonizing well. For us, this is a convenient starting point because the decoration can emphasize this character instead of fighting it.

The reception may be preceded by an outdoor ceremony in the garden, with the lake in the background. There is also your own beach with a pier, and there is a Grill Hut for resting, so there is no need to move on the second day. Guests can stay in hotel rooms on site, and there is a wellness area with a salt cave and saunas. As a result, all wedding logistics remain in one place, without organizing travel. From our perspective, however, the most important thing here are the windows and the lake behind them. They tell you how to plan the decoration of the room.

We matched the flowers to the nature of the party

The second part of the project was wedding floristry. The flowers complemented the room decorations, and we matched their form and scope to the arrangements with the couple and the nature of the party. We plan such accessories together with the table setting and the newlyweds' place. When floristry and room decoration are created as part of one concept, it is easier to maintain the coherence of the whole and avoid a situation in which flowers compete with the rest of the interior for the guests' attention.

Matching the form in practice involves several decisions. The first concerns the scale, i.e. whether the flowers should be a clear accent or a calm background for the rest of the decorations. The second is the selection of plants, because the availability of seasonal flowers changes throughout the year and it is worth taking it into account at the concept stage. The third is durability, because the compositions must look good from installation to the end of the party. We set the scope to suit the size of the interior and what the couple cares about.

We refined the concept until the final arrangements

We usually start working on the decoration with a conversation and inspiration brought by the couple. Sometimes they are collected photos, sometimes a few sentences about the mood that is to accompany the wedding. On this basis, we prepare the first proposal, which includes the color palette, the nature of the flowers and the selection of textiles. We treat it as a material for joint work, not a closed project to be accepted in its entirety. At the wedding in Chmielno, the concept also went from the first proposal to the final arrangements.

Between these stages, we clarify what is initially only an outline. We check how the decoration will fit in a specific room, how many elements are really needed, what is worth strengthening and what should be omitted. The final arrangements include a list based on which we order flowers and prepare materials. The couple then knows what to expect, and on the wedding day we work according to a clear plan, without improvising on the spot. This is especially important for longer commutes.

Installation outside the Tri-City begins with a travel plan

Chmielno is located outside the Tri-City, so we treat access as a legitimate point of the plan. We prepare the flowers in our studio and secure them so that they arrive at their destination in good condition. We pack the remaining elements in the order in which they will be needed during assembly, so we do not waste time searching on site. We agree with the facility in advance when we can enter the room and where to unload. During such a trip, it is impossible to quickly come back for a forgotten item, so we check everything before we set off.

We finish the installation before the guests enter the room and leave time for one last round and minor corrections. We check the tables, the newlyweds' place and the condition of the flowers, and then hand over the interior to the hotel staff. After acceptance, we return for disassembly on the date agreed with the facility. We plan it together with travel, because the trip to Kashubia is a separate route, not a short trip through the city. We take all our elements, so neither the couple nor their loved ones need to think about packing decorations after the wedding.

What advice do we give to couples planning a wedding in Kashubia?

If the room has windows overlooking the lake, plan the decoration around this view. Low compositions work well on tables as they do not cover what's behind the glass for guests. After dark, the role of the view is taken over by light, so it is worth providing candles in glass along the entire length of the tables from the beginning. In a pillarless room, it is also easier to choose a place for the couple's table and a possible flower wall that will look good in photos.

It is a good idea to arrange the ceremony in the garden so that you can see the water behind you. It is better to keep the flowers at the wedding arch in white and green, because then they do not distract attention from the lake. If the bouquet and boutonniere repeat the flowers from the arch, the photos by the lake and in the hall will create one story. In case of an outdoor ceremony, immediately agree with the venue on an alternative indoor option and ask the decorator how quickly he will move the setting.

It is also worth planning the second day in advance. Corrections in the Grill Hut do not require a repetition of the setting from the room. A simpler, rustic decoration with wood, linen, wild flowers in jugs and warm light garlands suits them better. If you are having a wedding outside the Tri-City, choose a studio that will include travel in your plan and arrange the installation date with the venue. Also ask about disassembly right away, so that after the reception this matter does not fall on you or your family.
