Marriage proposals in the Tricity: we prepare the setting and decorations

Author: Magdalena RabaWielki Dzień, a wedding decoration studio in the Tri-City

We prepare proposal settings in Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia and elsewhere in Pomerania: on the beach, in your flat, in a garden or on a terrace. You take care of the ring and the question, while we handle the sign, flowers and lighting, keeping everything a surprise for your partner.

  • Beach, home, garden or terrace
  • The Tricity, Kashubia and the whole coast
  • We travel from Gdańsk, with travel costs quoted upfront
  • Proposal and quote within 24 hours

Example proposal sets

A good proposal idea begins with the location, because that determines what can be set up: on a beach, lighting and shelter from the wind matter; at home, it is the sign and petals; in a garden, an arch and lights. The final set is for people who want photographs of the question itself and are inviting their own photographer.

  • A proposal on the beach

A path of lanterns leads to a heart of flowers and a “Will you marry me?” sign against the sea. We keep the decorations low and stable so the breeze from the bay does not disrupt your plans at the crucial moment.

    • A path of lanterns leading to the proposal spot
    • A “Will you marry me?” sign on a stand
    • A heart or circle of flowers and lanterns on the sand
    • A blanket with cushions to sit on afterwards
    • Glasses for a toast immediately after the question

Best for: Couples for whom the sea is a place they share, perhaps since their first walk on the beach in Brzeźno or Sopot.

  • A proposal at home

A whole room prepared for one question: a sign above the sofa, rose petals, LED candles and helium balloons beneath the ceiling. We can arrange it in your flat or a rented apartment, agreeing access with you or the property owner in advance.

    • A “Will you marry me?” sign on a wall or stand
    • Rose petals on the floor, table and bed
    • LED candles in glass throughout the room
    • Helium balloons in the decoration colours
    • A bouquet to give alongside the ring

Best for: People who prefer a romantic proposal without witnesses, in the privacy of home or an apartment rented for a weekend together.

  • A proposal in a garden

In your parents' garden, at a holiday plot, on a terrace or beside a rented house on a Kashubian lake: a floral arch, lights overhead and lanterns on the lawn. This is a good option if you want loved ones to join you for a toast straight after the question.

    • An arch or hoop with flowers and foliage
    • Lights hung above the terrace or between trees
    • Lanterns on the grass and terrace steps
    • A “Will you marry me?” sign by the arch
    • A small table with flowers and glasses for a toast with loved ones

Best for: People with access to a garden, holiday plot or lakeside house who want loved ones waiting just around the corner to offer congratulations.

  • A proposal designed for photographs

You invite your own photographer, and we position the decorations to provide good light, a clear frame and a hiding place that will not give away the surprise. After the answer, the same decorations become a backdrop for photographs of you together.

    • Decorations positioned with the photographer's lighting and framing in mind
    • A hiding place for the photographer, agreed with them in advance
    • A sign and flowers that also look good from a distance
    • A backdrop for photographs together straight after the question
    • Lanterns or LED candles for an evening session

Best for: Anyone who wants photographs of the question itself and the first reaction.

These sets are a starting point rather than a fixed price list: we tailor each one to your date, venue, colours and number of guests, and you can combine elements from different sets.

Ideas for a proposal in the Tricity

  • Orłowo pier

Orłowo pier is shorter and quieter than Sopot's. Outside the season, there are fewer people walking there, so a question at the end of the pier or on the adjacent beach has a chance to remain a moment just for you.

  • Brzeźno beach

The broad beach in Brzeźno, overlooking the pier and ships entering the port, suits an evening proposal. Outside the season, it can be empty by the afternoon; in summer, aim for when beachgoers are leaving.

  • Park Oliwski

Park Oliwski, with its hornbeam avenues and pond, is a lovely place to ask during an ordinary walk. Here, we suggest a small set that is quick to put up and take down: a bouquet, a small sign on a stand and a few lanterns, without structures that attract passers-by's attention.

  • A viewpoint above the city

For example, Kamienna Góra in Gdynia, overlooking the port and sea, or Góra Gradowa with its panorama of Gdańsk's Główne Miasto. These locations provide a beautiful backdrop but are public, so the decorations should be small and easy to pack away.

  • A visible or concealed sign

The “Will you marry me?” sign can be visible from afar, leading to the proposal spot, or wait beneath fabric that you remove once you arrive. In the second version, the question, sign and ring appear at the same moment, which also photographs well.

  • After the question

It is worth planning the moment after the answer too: a blanket to sit on, glasses for a toast and a bouquet for your fiancé or fiancée to take home. Bring your own drink for the toast. If loved ones are waiting nearby, you can call them over for a group photograph by the decorations.

Keeping it a surprise

We arrange the details with the person planning the proposal or a friend they nominate, so contact us from an email address and phone number your partner cannot access. You will also need a simple reason for them to arrive on time: a walk after dinner, anniversary photographs together or a visit to friends with a garden, for example.

On the day, we can send a short message once the decorations are ready, and then everything is in your hands. It is also worth agreeing code words with us in case plans change: one word in a text means you are running late, and another means we move everything to the backup location.

A proposal venue: public or private?

A beach, pier or viewpoint provides a beautiful backdrop, but other people may be there and the decorations need to be smaller and quick to install. We agree the location's rules and timing in advance and, for popular places, suggest when they are quietest.

Your flat, a rented apartment or a friend's garden offers more freedom: there is room for a larger sign, petals on the floor and balloons, and no stranger will stand beside you as you ask. It is a good choice for people who dislike being the centre of attention and couples who want to celebrate with loved ones immediately afterwards.

What determines the price of proposal decorations?

Location and scale make the biggest difference: a small park setup is different from a flower arch in a garden or a whole room filled with petals, candles and balloons. Flower types and season, the number of lanterns, the sign and extras such as a bouquet to present or a blanket with cushions also affect the quote.

The time of day and whether we prepare a backup version at another location in case of rain also affect the price.

How we work

  1. Tell us what you are planning

The occasion, date, venue and approximate number of guests. A photo of the venue, garden or beach is very helpful.

  2. Proposal and quote

We will get back to you within 24 hours with a proposal and quote. Travel costs from Gdańsk are included in the quote from the start, so you know the full amount before booking.

  3. Refining the details

We work with you to choose colours, flowers, signs and accessories, so the set suits your venue and occasion.

  4. Decorating on site

We arrive early, set everything up and leave before you arrive. We agree in advance when we will return to collect the decorations.

Frequently asked questions

How much do proposal decorations cost?

We quote each proposal individually because the price depends on the location, sign size, flowers, number of lanterns and whether we prepare a backup location. Tell us the date, place and whether loved ones will join you afterwards, and we will reply within 24 hours with a proposal and quote.

Is travel charged separately?

Yes, travel is charged separately. We travel from our Gdańsk studio and include the travel cost in the proposal alongside the decoration quote from the start, whether the question is asked on a jetty at Lake Raduńskie or on a beach in Dębki.

How can I arrange a proposal without my partner guessing?

Contact us from a phone and inbox your partner cannot access, and think of a simple reason for them to arrive on time. We will also agree a code word for the day in case plans change.

Do you provide a photographer?

No, you invite your own photographer. Before the proposal, we can discuss the location, hiding place and lighting with them so the decorations look good in photographs.

Can we plan the proposal on a pier or in a park?

We can prepare a proposal for that type of setting, but the decorations will need to be smaller and quick to remove. We discuss the timing and what can be set up there with you in advance. If it does not work out, we will suggest a nearby beach or garden.

What if it rains that day?

We choose a backup location when you book and fit it to your planned reason for going there, such as a covered terrace or flat instead of the beach. On the day, a few hours before installation, we check the forecast together and decide where to decorate.

Can you hide the ring in the decorations?

We advise against this, as it is very easy to lose a ring in sand, petals or grass. It is safer to keep it with you and let the decorations simply mark the spot where you will ask the question.
