Christening decorations for church, home and restaurant
Author: Magdalena RabaWielki Dzień, a wedding decoration studio in the Tri-City
We will prepare decorations for the christening and the reception afterwards: flowers by the baptismal font, a christening table at home, a restaurant room and a balloon backdrop with the baby’s name. If the christening is in a parish in Oliwa and lunch is at a restaurant in Sopot, we will coordinate the church flowers and table decorations in the same colours.
- Church, home and restaurant in one palette
- A proposal and quote within 24 hours
- Travel to the church and reception quoted in advance
- Tricity, Kashubia, Kociewie and the coast
Example christening decoration packages
Three packages reflect the settings for the day: home, restaurant and church. The fourth is a photo backdrop that can be added to any of them. We choose a palette to suit both the church and the reception venue, and the baby’s name can appear on balloons, a small sign or a welcome board.
A christening table at home
When the reception is at the parents’ or grandparents’ home, a decorated christening table and a balloon corner are enough to make the living room feel festive while leaving space for guests.
- A low floral centrepiece for the table
- A table runner and small flowers beside the place settings
- A balloon garland above the table or beside the window
- The baby’s name and christening date on a small sign
- Flowers beside the cake in the same colours
Best for: Families celebrating at home around one large table after Mass.

A restaurant already has its own décor, so christening room decorations add colour and flowers where guests look most: the table shared by the parents, baby and godparents. The same palette appears on the guests’ tables, on a smaller scale.
- An arrangement for the main table with the parents, baby and godparents
- Low flowers for the guests’ tables
- A balloon garland behind the main table
- A welcome board for guests at the room entrance
- Flowers for the cake table
Best for: Parents inviting guests to a restaurant meal after Mass.

Flowers beside the baptismal font or altar, sometimes also by the pew where the parents and godparents sit. Before the christening, we ask the parish where flowers can be placed and when the church will be open.
- An arrangement beside the baptismal font
- Flowers on stands beside the altar
- Floral decorations for the parents’ and godparents’ pew, attached without leaving marks
- Ribbons and greenery in the same colours as the reception tables
Best for: Families who want the church flowers to coordinate with the reception after Mass.
Ask about this set: Church flowersA backdrop with the baby’s name
A christening balloon backdrop with the baby’s name or “Welcome to the family”, where every guest can take a photo with the baby and parents. We can set it up at home, in a restaurant or in the garden.
- A balloon garland or arch in the reception colours
- The baby’s name or a “Welcome to the family” sign
- Flowers and greenery woven into the balloons
- A clear balloon with the name and christening date
Best for: Parents who want a photo with every guest, including godparents and grandparents.

These sets are a starting point rather than a fixed price list: we tailor each one to your date, venue, colours and number of guests, and you can combine elements from different sets.
Colours and ideas for christening receptions
White with eucalyptus
White flowers with eucalyptus work in a church, at home and in a restaurant room. A good choice when you do not want the decorations associated with a colour for a boy or a girl.
Blue or blush pink with gold
Pastel blue or blush pink can appear in the balloons and small flowers, with everything else kept light so the decorations do not overwhelm the space. Gold details, such as name letters or a floral hoop, add a festive touch but work better as accents than as the main colour.
Low table arrangements
Several generations sit at one table during a christening reception, and everyone wants to see each other. We suggest low, elongated arrangements for guests’ tables that do not hide faces and leave room for serving dishes.
A photo corner with the godparents
Alongside the parents, the godparents are the day’s most important guests, but a shared photo is easily forgotten in the bustle of the reception. A small corner with balloons and flowers beside the main table is a reminder to take one before the baby falls asleep.
A subtle religious motif
If you want the decorations to refer to the sacrament, a subtle religious motif on the welcome board or backdrop is enough. The rest can simply celebrate the family: flowers, the baby’s name and the reception colours.
Several christenings during one Mass
Sometimes several children are christened during the same Mass. In that case, discuss altar flowers with the parish and the other families, and focus your own decorations on the pew and reception.
A christening reception at home or in a restaurant: how the decorations differ
At home, guests see the decorations close up, so details matter: fresh flowers, a neatly finished table runner and the baby’s name spelt correctly. One table, a balloon corner and flowers in the hallway are usually enough. We plan everything to keep access to the kitchen clear and leave a quiet place to change the baby and put them to sleep.
In a restaurant, the decorations need to hold their own in a large room with existing décor, so we focus on the main table, entrance and backdrop rather than placing flowers in every corner. The restaurant may host several receptions that day, so we choose decorations that can be set up efficiently during the time allowed by the venue.
What affects the price of christening decorations
The main factor is the number of places we decorate: just the table at home, a restaurant room, or also the church, which requires arrival before Mass. The number of tables, flower varieties and season, the size of the balloon backdrop and the number of personalised signs also matter.
There is no single price for every christening reception: a family lunch table may need only a few arrangements, while a large room adds more tables, an entrance and a backdrop. If we also decorate the church, both venues are included in one quote.
How we work
Tell us what you are planning
The occasion, date, venue and approximate number of guests. A photo of the venue, garden or beach is very helpful.
Proposal and quote
We will get back to you within 24 hours with a proposal and quote. Travel costs from Gdańsk are included in the quote from the start, so you know the full amount before booking.
Refining the details
We work with you to choose colours, flowers, signs and accessories, so the set suits your venue and occasion.
Decorating on site
We deliver and install the decorations before your celebration. We agree installation and collection times with you in advance and, if the party is at a venue, with its staff as well.
Frequently asked questions
How much do christening decorations cost?
The main factor is whether we decorate a church, home or reception room, followed by the number of tables, flowers and the backdrop size. Send us the christening date, reception venue and approximate guest numbers, and we will return with a proposal and quote within 24 hours.
Is travel to the church and restaurant charged separately?
Yes, travel is charged separately. We leave from our Gdańsk studio and include travel costs in the offer alongside the decoration quote, even when the church and reception are in two different towns outside the Tricity. You therefore know the full amount before booking.
Can you decorate the church for a christening?
Yes, if the parish allows it. When arranging the christening, ask whether the church accepts flowers from families. We will agree on the arrangement locations and access time directly with the parish.
Which colours should we choose for a boy’s or girl’s christening?
Blue for a boy and blush pink for a girl are classic choices, but white with greenery suits both and works in any interior. We can also coordinate the colour with the christening outfit or invitations.
Can you prepare balloons with the baby’s name?
Yes. The baby’s name or “Welcome to the family” can appear on the balloon backdrop, a clear balloon or a welcome board. We confirm the spelling of the name and the christening date with you before making the sign.
When should we order christening reception decorations?
Ideally, as soon as you have agreed on the christening date with the parish and booked the restaurant, so we can tailor the decorations to both places. For a reception at home, the date, guest numbers and a photo of the room where the table will stand are enough for a quote.
