Flower backdrops for weddings, parties and corporate events

Author: Magdalena RabaWielki Dzień, a wedding decoration studio in the Tri-City

As a floral studio, we create backdrops from fresh flowers and foliage in the colours of your occasion: behind the top table, at a birthday, First Communion, christening or corporate event. We arrange them on site, whether at a venue in Gdynia, a restaurant in Gdańsk's Główne Miasto or a garden in Żukowo, so the flowers are fresh when guests arrive.

  • Fresh flowers and foliage arranged on site
  • Proposal and quote within 24 hours
  • Travel from Gdańsk included in the quote upfront
  • The Tricity, Kashubia, the coast and Kociewie

Example flower backdrop sets

Four approaches to a flower backdrop, from densely covered with blooms to lighter arrangements with more greenery. We choose flowers to suit the season, venue and occasion's colours, and every quote is for a specific date and location.

  • Backdrop behind the top table

A dense flower and foliage backdrop behind the couple's table. Throughout the evening, it forms the background for photographs of congratulations, toasts and conversations at the table.

    • A fresh flower and foliage backdrop on a frame
    • Colours echoed from the bouquet and table flowers
    • A greenery garland along the top table
    • Installation before guests arrive, at a time agreed with you and the venue

Best for: Couples who want one striking backdrop behind their table rather than many small decorations.

  • Greenery backdrop with flowers

A lighter version: a foliage background with a few clusters of flowers in the corners and centre. It looks natural and holds up well through a longer celebration.

    • A foliage background, using eucalyptus, ruscus or ferns, for example
    • Two or three flower clusters in the party colours
    • A freestanding frame
    • A small arrangement in the same palette for the cake table

Best for: Families celebrating a birthday, First Communion or christening at a restaurant or in a garden.

  • Corporate event backdrop

A flower and foliage backdrop in brand colours where guests enjoy taking photographs, giving the company a ready-made setting for coverage of the event.

    • Flowers and foliage in brand colours
    • Space for a logo or slogan on a sign
    • Arrangements for the lectern or cocktail tables in the same palette
    • Installation and collection at times agreed with you and the venue

Best for: Companies organising a gala, anniversary, conference or shop opening that want a photo backdrop in their brand colours.

  • Floral hoop

A circular hoop dressed with flowers on one side and cascading greenery. It fits a smaller interior or terrace and frames photographs beautifully.

    • A hoop on a stable stand
    • Colours matched to the cake, outfit or party theme
    • Plain fabric behind the hoop as an option
    • A small table arrangement using the same flowers

Best for: People celebrating a birthday at home, on a terrace or in a small restaurant who want one lovely photo backdrop.

These sets are a starting point rather than a fixed price list: we tailor each one to your date, venue, colours and number of guests, and you can combine elements from different sets.

Ideas for a flower backdrop

  • A backdrop in the bouquet's colours

At a wedding, the backdrop behind the top table can repeat the bridal bouquet's flowers on a larger scale. In photographs of guests offering congratulations, the bouquet and background then form one cohesive picture, and guests can immediately see the shared palette.

  • Seasonal flowers

In spring, a backdrop might feature tulips and peonies; in summer, roses, sweet peas and dahlias; and in autumn, dahlias, chrysanthemums and branches with berries. Seasonal flowers are at their best, and the backdrop naturally suits the time of year in which you are celebrating.

  • Several shades of one colour

Instead of using many colours, we can build a backdrop from several shades of one, such as pale pink through to raspberry, or light lavender through to purple. This creates a calm overall effect, while a closer look reveals how the different flowers blend into one another.

  • Brand colours expressed in flowers

For a corporate event, flowers can reflect your brand colours, for example blue delphiniums and white roses beside a navy and white logo. A logo or slogan is best placed on a sign to one side of the backdrop, so it does not obscure the flowers or faces in photographs.

  • A pastel backdrop for a First Communion

A light pastel backdrop suits a First Communion or christening: soft greenery, pale pink roses, gypsophila and touches of white. It is best not to use too much white, as a child in a white Communion robe or christening outfit could blend into the background.

Fresh flowers and the length of your celebration

Flowers in a backdrop face tougher conditions than a bouquet in a vase, so how long they look fresh depends on the location and weather. A backdrop stays fresh longer in a cool room away from sunlight. In heat, full sun or under hot lights, delicate flowers such as hydrangeas lose firmness sooner, while carnations, chrysanthemums and eucalyptus cope better.

We therefore arrange the flowers in the backdrop on site, as close to the start of the celebration as possible. For summer terraces and gardens, we choose varieties that tolerate heat and look for a shaded spot. If the party will last late into the night, a version with more greenery is worth considering, as it holds its shape longer.

Where to place a flower backdrop

Ideally, place it where light reaches it from the front or side. With its back to a window, the backdrop will look dark in photographs and guests' faces will be in shadow. Check what is visible on either side too: a kitchen door, stack of chairs or speaker can spoil the frame, and often moving the backdrop a little is enough.

Leave enough room in front for several people at once and for the photographer to step back. Avoid the route to the dance floor or the area beside the bar, where guests gather. On a sea-view terrace, such as in Sopot or Orłowo, we will position the backdrop so the view remains in the frame.

What determines the price of a flower backdrop?

The biggest factors are how many flowers the backdrop contains and which types: a wall densely covered in roses or peonies is different from greenery with a few clusters of flowers. Frame size also matters. Flower availability and prices change throughout the year, so the same backdrop in May and December may require different varieties.

Location affects the price as well: an air-conditioned room allows more delicate flowers, while a sunny terrace needs varieties that tolerate heat better. We therefore quote each backdrop individually once we know the date and venue.

How we work

  1. Tell us what you are planning

The occasion, date, venue and approximate number of guests. A photo of the venue, garden or beach is very helpful.

  2. Proposal and quote

We will get back to you within 24 hours with a proposal and quote. Travel costs from Gdańsk are included in the quote from the start, so you know the full amount before booking.

  3. Refining the details

We work with you to choose colours, flowers, signs and accessories, so the set suits your venue and occasion.

  4. Decorating on site

We deliver and install the decorations before your guests arrive. We agree installation and collection times with you in advance. When decorating a restaurant, shop or office, we also coordinate with the person who will let us in.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a flower backdrop cost?

The price depends on its size, the number and types of flowers needed, the season and where it will stand. Tell us the date, venue and planned position: behind a table, by the entrance or in a photo corner. We will reply within 24 hours with a proposal and quote.

Is travel included in the backdrop price?

No, travel is charged separately. We set out from our studio in Gdańsk and include travel costs in the proposal alongside the backdrop quote from the start, whether the celebration is at a hotel in Puck, beside a lake in Kashubia or at a venue in Kociewie.

Will a flower backdrop cope with hot weather?

Heat is harder on flowers than a cool room, but we can plan for it. We will choose varieties that cope better, find shade for the backdrop and arrange the flowers as close to the start of the party as possible.

Can the backdrop use artificial or dried flowers?

Our main suggestion is a backdrop of fresh flowers and greenery. If you would like dried or artificial flowers, perhaps for a longer event or a business space, get in touch and we can discuss what can be prepared.

Can you prepare a flower backdrop for a corporate event or shop opening?

Yes. We will match the flowers and foliage to your brand colours and put your logo or slogan on a sign beside the backdrop. Simply send your logo and tell us where the event will take place.

Are flower backdrops only suitable for weddings?

No. We also create flower backdrops for birthdays, First Communions, christenings, anniversaries and corporate events. We adapt the colours and size to the occasion. If you are planning a wedding, take a look at our wedding backdrop guide too.
