Romantic dinners and surprises in the Tricity

Author: Magdalena RabaWielki Dzień, a wedding decoration studio in the Tri-City

We will prepare a romantic dinner setting in your flat or a surprise in a hotel room in Gdańsk, Sopot or Gdynia: a laid table, candles, rose petals, flowers and balloons. You cook dinner or order from your favourite restaurant; our part is the setting, from the front door to the table where you will sit.

  • A flat, house or hotel room
  • For Valentine's Day, an anniversary or no special occasion
  • Travel to hotels outside the city too, with costs included in the quote
  • Proposal and quote within 24 hours

Example romantic dinner sets

The first set focuses on the table and lighting at home, the second is a surprise waiting at your hotel, and the last two have distinct themes: Valentine's Day and a wedding anniversary. We adapt the colours, flowers and number of candles to your interior and whether you want an elegant or relaxed table.

  • Dinner at home

A table laid for two in the living room or on the balcony, with candles and low flowers that do not hide your faces. When you return from work or a walk, all you need to do is serve the food and light the candles.

    • A tablecloth or runner and napkins in the decoration colours
    • Candles in glass holders
    • Low flowers for the centre of the table
    • Rose petals on and around the table
    • A menu card naming your dishes

Best for: Couples who would rather stay at home than look for a restaurant table, and anyone who wants to surprise their partner after work.

  • A surprise in a hotel room

Rose petals arranged in a heart on the bed, helium balloons and LED candles instead of real flames. We arrange room access with the hotel in advance, so everything is waiting when you check in.

    • A heart of rose petals on the bed
    • Helium balloons beside the bed or beneath the ceiling
    • LED candles on the windowsill and small table
    • A welcome bouquet in a vase
    • A note in your own words on the pillow

Best for: Couples spending a weekend at a hotel in Sopot, Gdańsk or by a lake who want the room to feel different from the moment they enter.

  • Valentine's dinner

Red and pink without the kitsch: roses or tulips, hearts made from petals, candles and a few heart-shaped balloons. We can prepare it at home or in a hotel, on Valentine's Day itself or the nearest weekend if you prefer a more leisurely celebration.

    • Roses or tulips in shades of red and pink
    • Small petal hearts beside each place setting
    • Heart-shaped balloons
    • Candles in glass or LED candles
    • A heart garland above the table or in the window

Best for: Couples who want to spend Valentine's Day together rather than in a crowded restaurant, and anyone looking for a Valentine's surprise.

  • A wedding anniversary dinner

An evening that recalls your wedding day: flowers similar to those in the bouquet, your wedding colours and a wedding photograph on the table. Suitable for your first anniversary and every one after it.

    • Flowers in the colours of your bridal bouquet
    • A table styled in your wedding-day colours
    • A framed wedding photograph among the candles
    • A sign with your wedding date and number of years together
    • Glasses to toast the years ahead

Best for: Married couples who want to celebrate their wedding anniversary together over dinner at home.

These sets are a starting point rather than a fixed price list: we tailor each one to your date, venue, colours and number of guests, and you can combine elements from different sets.

Ideas for a romantic evening

  • A trail of petals and lights from the door

Rose petals and small lights lead from the front door to the table or bedroom, so the surprise begins in the hallway. On the floor, near petals and curtains, we use LED candles instead of real flames.

  • A wall of your photographs

Print a dozen or so photographs of you together from different years, and we will hang them on a string with lights above the table or by the bed. The display naturally starts conversations, and when we collect the lights, the photographs stay with you as keepsakes.

  • A menu that tells your story

Dish names on the menu can refer to your memories: pasta from your first date, dessert from a seaside holiday or a toast to the day you met. We prepare the card based on what you will cook or order and place it beside the plates.

  • Flowers to take to work tomorrow

Alongside the table flowers, we can prepare a small bouquet to take to work the next day and place on your desk. It makes the evening last a little longer, and your colleagues will probably ask where the flowers came from.

  • A palette beyond red

Romantic does not have to mean red. Peach with cream, deep green with gold or white with a touch of burgundy look elegant by candlelight and often suit bright interiors better than classic red and pink.

  • No overhead lighting

For dinner, light at table height works best: candles, string lights and a small lamp in the corner. Before leaving, we switch off the overhead lights, so you see only warm pools of light from the doorway.

Candles at home and in hotels

In hotel rooms, we use LED candles rather than real ones: they look similar from a distance, can stay lit all evening and do not need watching. We suggest the same option at home wherever a flame would be close to petals, curtains or bedding.

At home, real candles in glass holders can stand on the table, well away from curtains, with petals and flowers arranged clear of the flame. We leave the candles ready for you to light when you sit down to dinner, because flames should never be left in an empty flat.

Valentine's Day: book early

In Gdańsk and across the Tricity, Valentine's Day is the one evening when almost everyone wants the same thing: flowers, candles and Valentine's decorations at the same time. We therefore book appointments for the day in order of enquiry; the earlier you contact us, the greater your choice of times and flowers.

If Valentine's Day falls midweek, consider dinner the day before or on the nearest weekend: the evening can be more relaxed, and we can prepare the decorations without rushing. Get in touch as soon as you know where you want to celebrate, even if we arrange the remaining details later.

What determines the price of dinner decorations?

Scale makes the biggest difference: a table for two with flowers and candles takes less work than a hotel room with petals on the bed, balloons beneath the ceiling and a trail of lights from the door. Flowers and their season, the number of balloons and candles, and extras such as a menu card or photograph display also affect the price.

We do not have a fixed price list because every flat and hotel has different conditions. We quote specifically for the evening you are planning.

How we work

  1. Tell us what you are planning

The occasion, date, venue and approximate number of guests. A photo of the venue, garden or beach is very helpful.

  2. Proposal and quote

We will get back to you within 24 hours with a proposal and quote. Travel costs from Gdańsk are included in the quote from the start, so you know the full amount before booking.

  3. Refining the details

We work with you to choose colours, flowers, signs and accessories, so the set suits your venue and occasion.

  4. Decorating on site

We arrive early, set everything up and leave before you arrive. We agree in advance when we will return to collect the decorations.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to prepare a romantic dinner setting at home?

The price depends on the flowers, number of candles and balloons, petals and extras, and whether we decorate a home or hotel room. Tell us the date, town or hotel name and number of people at the table, and we will reply within 24 hours with a proposal and quote.

Is travel to the hotel charged separately?

Yes, travel is charged separately. We set out from our studio in Gdańsk and can prepare a room at a lakeside hotel in Kashubia, an apartment in Jastarnia or a guesthouse in Ustka, for example. We include travel costs in the proposal alongside the decoration quote from the start.

Do you cook or deliver food?

No, that part is yours: you cook dinner or order from a restaurant. We lay and decorate the table. Let us know what time you plan to eat so it is ready on time.

Can you prepare a romantic surprise in a hotel room?

Yes, if the hotel agrees. We arrange permission and room access times with reception before confirming the booking, and use lights and LED candles instead of open flames.

How will you get into the flat if we are away?

The simplest option is for someone you trust to let us in and lock up afterwards. You can also leave a key or door code. We agree this in advance, together with the time when the decorations should be ready.

When do you collect the decorations after dinner?

We can return the next day or at a time when you will be leaving home anyway, so we do not interrupt your evening. In a hotel, we arrange collection around checkout time.
