Author: Magdalena RabaWielki Dzień, a wedding decoration studio in the Tri-City
We will prepare First Communion decorations at home or in a restaurant room, plus a photo backdrop with your child’s name. We decorate each family’s reception individually, whether you are celebrating at home in Kartuzy or in a restaurant in Gdynia. If needed, we also decorate the church, for example for the whole class when commissioned by the parents’ committee.
- Home, venue, church and photo backdrop
- A proposal with a quote within 24 hours
- Travel costs known in advance, including beyond the Tricity
- Gdańsk, Sopot, Gdynia and all of Pomerania
Example First Communion decoration packages
We have arranged our First Communion packages by setting: home, venue, church and photo backdrop. We will coordinate the colours, flowers and name sign with your child’s outfit and the interior where you are celebrating.

First Communion decoration ideas
White and green
White flowers with plenty of greenery suit an alb, the church and any interior, making them the easiest starting point. We can choose lighter or denser greenery, depending on whether you prefer a delicate or more garden-like look.
Ears of grain and gypsophila
Ears of grain evoke bread, while gypsophila adds lightness, making them a natural combination for First Communion. They work on the table, beside the altar and on the photo backdrop, including alongside white balloons.
Gold accents
Gold in thin ribbons, lettering or a few balloons warms the white palette and photographs beautifully. A little is enough: with gold accents, the flowers can stay simple and white.
The child’s name at the centre
The child’s name on the backdrop, entrance board or beside the cake table brings all the decorations together. We can add the Communion date and a short inscription, such as “My First Holy Communion”.
Communion symbols in one place
A chalice with a host, grapes, ears of grain or a dove can appear on the photo backdrop or name board. One clear symbol looks calmer than several scattered around the room.
Flowers matched to the child’s outfit
Pure white and green look best with a white alb. With an embroidered dress or a suit, we can add one colour from the outfit, such as blue or blush pink. Tell us what your child will wear for Communion and we will match the table and backdrop flowers.
First Communion in May: book your date early
Most parishes hold First Communions on successive Saturdays and Sundays in May, so many families seek decorations for the same weeks. As a result, May dates fill up faster than those in other months.
It is worth getting in touch as soon as the parish announces the Communion date, even if you have not chosen colours. We can finalise flowers, lettering and the backdrop closer to May, once your child’s outfit is decided. If the parents’ committee is ordering church decorations, starting early matters even more, as the proposal also needs agreement from the parish and other parents.
A table at home or a restaurant room
At home, decorations usually centre on one long table and one photo spot, so even a small package makes a big difference. Check how much space remains after the table and chairs are set out: the backdrop needs a place where guests will not obscure it or bump into it.
A restaurant room already has its colours, tables and lighting, so First Communion decorations primarily give it a family feel. Table flowers, the child’s name at the entrance and a backdrop or balloon garland in one visible spot are enough, rather than decorating every corner.
What affects the price of First Communion decorations
The cost depends mainly on the types and quantity of flowers, number of tables, size of the photo backdrop and whether we decorate only the reception or also the church. For the church, its size, the number of pews to decorate and parish rules also matter.
When a parents’ committee orders church decorations for the whole class, we quote once and the committee decides how to share the cost among parents. Home or restaurant reception decorations are quoted separately for each family, according to the package elements you choose.

Frequently asked questions
How much do First Communion decorations cost?
The quote reflects the number of tables, types of flowers and backdrop size, plus church decorations if requested. Tell us the Communion date, reception venue and whether the church is included, and we will return with a proposal and quote within 24 hours.
Is there an additional travel charge for First Communion decorations?
Yes, travel is charged separately. We travel from our Gdańsk studio to churches and venues beyond the Tricity too, such as parishes along the coast or in Kashubia. We include travel costs in the offer alongside the decoration quote, so you know the full amount before booking.
Will you also decorate the church for First Communion?
Yes, we decorate churches too. If the parents’ committee orders on behalf of the whole class, we will prepare a proposal with a quote for the committee to show the other parents. We agree on decoration rules with the parish.
Can decorations be attached to church pews?
Every parish has its own rules, so we ask before preparing the design. If nothing can be hung on the pews, we place flowers beside the altar and entrance, or use freestanding arrangements along the aisle.
Will a First Communion balloon backdrop look too much like a birthday decoration?
It need not. Muted colours, ears of grain or gypsophila and the child’s name give the backdrop a calm look suited to the occasion. If you prefer no balloons at all, we will prepare a backdrop of flowers and greenery.
When do you arrive to decorate the First Communion venue?
Early enough for the room to be ready before you return from church. We agree on setup time with you and the restaurant, as it depends on when the room becomes available, so it is worth asking when you book.
